Attend pre- and post-match press conferences to be interviewed by local and national journalists. View larger. | Powerful 3D Match Engine Watch your match in real-time, or use the Match Time Bar to fast-forward through sluggish minutes or rewind key moments in the game. With this customization at your fingertips you can also choose the information you'd like to see during the match, such as latest scores or player performance stats for the match. Engage Journalists, Train Players, and Get Help from Your AM No coach can do it all. Even the best need help from friends, so Worldwide Soccer Management 2009 comes equipped with an Assistant Manager. Your AM provides pre-match and in-match feedback on how the team is performing, and even delivers a few suggestions (hints) on how the team could play better. Every team has to deal with press. Good or bad, you're expected to attend pre- and post-match press conferences. When being interviewed by local and national journalists, make sure to choose your answers carefully because they could come back to haunt you later. Speaking of journalists, you can tap into the media and learn all about the global soccer gossip. Worldwide Soccer Management 2009's simulation of real-life soccer is even more realistic with the addition of the transfer rumors system. Now you can view the hottest news about players and speculation about who might be transferred where. Players can now be trained quickly and efficiently in a variety of new moves and positions -- even positions unfamiliar to them. For example, central defenders can learn to hold onto possession and wingers can be trained to cut inside and bypass the full backs. And for the first time, you can even play as a female manager and become the first woman to lead your favorite team to domestic and European glory. All Your Favorite Players and Teams This version is fully updated for the 2008-2009 soccer season. You can view all the latest league, club and player data from over 5,000 playable clubs from over 50 countries, with more than 350,000 players and staff from around the world. All this data is pulled fresh from the famous and trusted Sports Interactive database.

Good game.....will keep you riveted for a long time December 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is just so....soo involving. You can actually make so many subtle adjustments that you badly wanted in the FIFA series. Respond to the press, give pep talk to team/players, interact with players. And lo...you make one shoddy statement, say that a player is performing well when he's actually not, and some might even get back at you thorugh the press!
Here is how it goes....you start off as a new manager of any club you like, (almost....they even have clubs and players from India). Then everything is in your hands. Transfers, payroll, training, critical changes in match, motivating team(down to individual playes at times...wow!) and a host of other features. And wondeful part is that you almost get a real time feedback on your actions. The AI is also pretty strong, so do not take the low ranked teams lightly, else upset wins/ draws are not uncommon. Defintely a market leader in terms of offering you control.
However, be warned, that actual match would need much lesser attention, the game's not how good you with the controls, it completely handsoff. You just get to manage the games, not play them. You cannot hear any sound other than in the match mode. Also the match visual is badly done, a shock if you are coming from FIFA series! It dates back to mario stage. And yes, it does crashes every now and then, so remember to keep on saving after you've won an imp match or made a great transfer. All this cons make me give it a 4 star.
Summary, if you are looking for actual gameplay of football, i'd say this one is more for the behind the scene strategists! Coming from the FIFA series, I miss playing the game, but the rest keeps me glued for hours at a stretch!
Awesome Game December 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I play this game way too much. Thankfully I can pace myself between playing and doing my work and reading at school.
I still don't like the Slider system December 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Slider Sytem: 50% attacking or is 62.5% attacking, hmm what's this ? 73.35% passing 15.97% long ball or maybe 35.67% ? 65.099321% ball control training perhaps ?
Benitez: Yes, Gerrard I want you to go 59.99% attacking and 3.99% defending, maybe a little 79.756% 'diving' and 63.75% going to the right.. Gerrard: ......
New 3-D match engine, rejoice!, or you could switch to 2-D if your comp can't handle it/or hate it, and the nuisance press conferences is available on HD now for each match.
Go to some of the websites devoted to the game you could download the "correct competition names", badges, kits, or even match ads boards for the stadium.. Eye candies but worth it.
Trivia:
In regards to training, What does the Stars next to each category of training means ? More stars = more quality training ? or is it More stars = less workload for the coach assigned to that particular category ?
Waste of money! December 17, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The bloody game keeps hanging and I'm using a high end system. Save your money on something else.
Amazing ! December 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow, ...... I've been plaing it for a week and have spend more time on the PC then on anything else including sleeping.
Start with a team with lower expectation, it will take you a season to get into it. I agree, the AI is very sharp. This game is joy to play !!! Hard and rewarding.
The only problem is that whan I try to check for updates it displays a SEGA web page in browser with error message. There are updates available for "Worldwide Footbal manager" but not for "Worldwide Soccer manager" :( Since I want to play with the latest transfers I'd like to update but I am not sure if that is the wise thing to do since the update is for the european market. ?
HIGHLY RECOMENDED !!!
