WORKS GREAT! PIECE O' CAKE! November 19, 2008 Bought this thing on ebay for $30 and then started reading reviews and thought that I made a mistake by buying it. It's supposed to come with a CD, but the seller I bought it from didn't include it so I just downloaded the driver from Pelican's website. I executed the file, connected the wireless adapter via network cable to my laptop, it instantly recognized it, recognized my network, I typed in my password and saved the changes. Connected it to my XBOX, works great! No problems at all. Some of the reviews I notice are by people using Windows Vista.. get rid of that crap! Put XP back on your computer! Vista isn't compatible with anything. It's garbage. That's why Microsoft advertises it so heavily, they have to, it sucks! People in the commercial are saying "THIS is Windows Vista?!" (Microsoft is telling them it's a new operating system and NOT Vista, but then tells them that it IS Vista) Why do you think? Because the people in the commercial already know that Vista sucks!
Buggy but working November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The manufacturer settings and the software itself are lame. I couldn't get a connection to the device, and running software just got the "error: call customer support" line. Tried resetting the device, tried a few different computers; FAQs and support at the site are lacking. After a long time spent searching i found this: http:[...] follow the steps there to set it up manually and don't bother w/ the software. Now it's up and running; all the other devices on the network are connected ok; speed seems fine, and now I don't have to pay $[...] to let Microsoft rip me off. I'm satisfied.
Some people have complained about the fact that it needs an external power source, but I rather prefer not having devices drawing power from the 360. Less chance of RRoD that way.
this item isn't what those people say it is! its fantastic! November 2, 2008 i read most of the people's reviews before i considered buying the pelican wireless adapter, but i went with what most people who considered it as well. so i got it and even though i understand peoples complaints about the pelican version other then the microsoft version is that it is hard to get it set up, but once you really get it done and functioning, even though it took me 2-3 hours to get up and working properly it was an epic great little machine! gives great connection and i never have a connection drop ever. in case people are wondering... i have At&t 2wire modem with the built in router and from what i've heard its a great modem to use with the pelican one. but seriously, consider it before the microsoft one. price wise as well as great working.
Doesn't work September 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just bought this product and was looking forward to a cheaper than microsoft wireless solution. After a day of working to get the network through my router I called support. They told me the unit has been having many problems with setup (due to IP address problems) and I should return it. Some support.
Excellent Product...Worth your money! August 14, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this product recently and I was surprized to see its size. From the pictures on the web it looked kind of bulky however it is no more than the size of a sandwich and surprising light too.
The setup was a cakewalk if you followed the instructions and you are online in a flash. I am very much satisfied with this product.
Great Value for Money! The difference is in the price.. the microsoft one costs $100 and the pelican one costs $70 Retail. It is supposed to do the same thing as the Microsoft wireless adapter (connect to a router) but only cheaper and without using up a usb port.
